Understanding the Generic Naming Convention
Most TIF images can be used as a generic naming convention for most typical fluorescence microscopy and digital camera work stations. The following instructions detail how to name your files to match the naming convention.
Image Naming Convention Selector
Select 'General' as Image Naming Convention choice for generic image naming convention situations. CyteSeer ViewRNA uses the same format for the 'Panomics' naming convention.

How the Generic Naming Convention Works
Place all of the images for an experiment in the same folder.
Image name: There can be an extensive descriptive name for the image, which ends in a final underscore character. The descriptive name should stay the same for all files in an experiment.
Well designation: Upper case letters followed by numerals. A1, A01 or ZAQ999 are well formed examples. a23 will not work because of the lower case letter. This format was devised with well plates in mind but the letters and numbers can represent anything. CyteSeer will process as many of these wells or areas as there are well named images available in the source directory.
Field designation: Each well can have one or more fields. Each field of a well is defined by a lower case f followed by 2 digits. There can only be 100 fields per well or area designation.
Dye designation: The dye (fluor, wavelength, stain etc.) is designated by a lower case d followed by a single digit. There can be only 10 dyes. By convention, CyteSeer assumes d0 is for the nuclear channel and d1 is for the first RNA channel. These can be changed by hand in the user interface if needed.
