Combining KIC & SIM
Adding SIM to KIC creates 3D imaging with resolution equal to that of single-spot laser-scanning confocal microscopy (sLSCM) at the lowest possible phototoxicity (wide field excitation) with plate scanning speeds comparable to spinning disk systems, which exhibit resolution only about ½-way between sLCSM and wide field instruments. SIM thus combines the greatest resolution and speed (whereas all competitors sacrifice one for the other) – for even more disease-sensitive details – at the lowest possible phototoxicity for drug discovery and mechanistic biological assays in high throughput screens via fast kinetics of temperamental cell models such as iPSC-cardiomyocytes and –neurons.
